Belgium 2018: 50 years since satellite ESRO-2B launch
The motif shows the satellite (on the left) in orbit around the earth (on the right). Above it is the theme “ESRO-2B”, as well as the years “1968” and “2018”. Under the satellite the inscription “IRIS” (International Radiation Investigation Satellite) can be seen. The country code “BE” as well as the two mintmarks of the Belgian mint master Herzele and the Dutch mint in Utrecht complete the motive below. Under the globe are the initials of the artist Luc Luycx.
The twelve stars of the European flag are shown on the outer ring.
